What is an apprenticeship?
Apprenticeship is an industry-driven, high-quality career pathway where employers can develop and prepare their future workforce, and individuals can obtain paid work experience, classroom instruction, and a portable, nationally-recognized credential.
Many apprenticeships are PAID apprenticeships in which you learn and work at the same time. Apprenticeships are available in a limited amount of careers.

There are a variety of apprenticeship offerings, some even available to start while at LHS. Check in with your counselor, CTE teacher, or our Youth Apprenticeship person at LHS to learn more.

As mentioned above, LHS has a program for students who are interested in which you can start working in an apprenticeships of interest. You do need to be over 16 to get involved, but next year is right around the corner.

- MMSD Youth Apprenticeships Page- Click in to learn more about the Youth Apprenticeship program and options for MMSD students. Connect with your counselor if you would like to talk more about a specific option!
- Xello- LHS main college and career planning database utilized 6th-12th grade. Click explore options, careers, add YOUR own criteria into "more filters", find careers that match YOUR criteria! Save careers of interest!(Click heart)

- Wisconsin Technical College Apprenticeships Programs
- LHS College and Career Center (located in the C-wing)- Open for all students as a resource to explore, plan, and learn more about post high school options!
- Class of 2026, 2027, 2028, 2029 Google Classroom- Google classroom for each grade level. Resources for college and career planning. Announcements for opportunities and a way to connect with your Counselor or College and Career Coaches!

Financial Planning Within an Apprenticeship
Questions to consider as you plan for an apprenticeship.
- Will you get paid in your apprenticeship program? How much will you get paid? How often will you get payment?
- What is your housing plan as you work through your apprenticeship program?
- Is there a cost to your program (class fees, materials, ect...)?
- Is financial aid available for your program?
- Union? Non Union? What does this mean?
