Dear La Follette Alumni, Parents, Staff and Friends,

For many of us La Follette brings back many good memories and an appreciation for the positive impact upon our life; whether it was a teacher, principal, coach or friend, many people made our time at La Follette special. With this in mind a ‘Wall of Honor’ was built in celebration of La Follette’s 50th Anniversary last year. And you can be part of this by nominating and voting with your donations for those noteworthy La Follette Lancers. The donations will be used to bolster La Follette’s individual endowment fund.

Why should you help?: La Follette’s individual endowment fund, the smallest of all high schools ($21,400) when we started, provides annual income to fund projects not supported by the school budget. La Follette has not used its endowment fund since it was too small to provide meaningful income for grants; missing out on the benefits other Madison Schools have received from their own endowment funds. Since grants are made only from the fund’s income, endowment funds may continue in perpetuity.

Here is how it works: Make a nomination with a pledge. Once a person reaches $500 in pledges they will become a Lancer 50th nominee and posted on the Wall of Honor webpage and Facebook page. All nominees who receive at least $5,000 in pledges will be included on the Wall of Honor. The Wall of Honor is in a highly visible location in the commons area of La Follette.

Be part of our success: Since starting in the summer of 2012 we already have placed teachers on the wall, have several nominees and have met our original goal of bringing La Follette’s individual endowment fund to $50,000. We won’t stop there, with your help we will raise an additional $50,000 to prepare La Follette for its next 50 years.

Your generosity will:

  • Grow the La Follette Individual Endowment Fund to at least $100,000.
  • Fund small capital projects as requested by La Follette’s principal.
