Lancer Families,

Welcome to a new year of learning! This is my third time coming home to La Follette. My first homecoming was as a student in '92, then as a teacher in '03, and now I'm excited to be back as an instructional leader in '15. Every year at La Follette has been the best year of my life. We have truly exceptional teachers, an "Excellence with Equity" award winning School Leadership Team, and amazing students and families. I am honored to teach and learn with Lancers once again.
Please mark your calendars - Back to School Night runs from 6:30pm-8:00pm on Monday, September 21. Our staff members look forward to meeting you, learning more about your and your students' needs, and sharing information about student learning with you. We know our students will grow a lot over the course of the year, and positive communication with you is critical to our success. If you can join us early, you are welcome to visit with our entire administrative team in room C17 at 5:45pm to learn more about our Behavior Education Plan and new support systems we are developing this year. We welcome your questions and feedback.
Every school year is full of new opportunities to learn and grow. At La Follette, our staff members promise to share high expectations with kids, engage them in learning, and support them to do their best every day. I promise to support all of our Lancers, and to partner with you in our continued learning and growth together.
We take care of our kids and each other, so that we all grow and thrive.

2016 Senior Ads - Don't Wait!

Don't wait until the last minute to purchase your 2016 Senior Ad! There is no deadline but space is limited and sells out quickly! Last year we sold out in December. You may not reserve a spot without a complete order - so send in your completed senior ad now or over the summer to get a spot! Application form here.

2016 Seniors: Time for Senior Photos

Senior photographs for the 2015-2016 Statesman yearbook must be in the hands of the Statesman staff by Friday, October 2, 2015. If a photo is not supplied to the Statesman, your Lifetouch photo will be used in place of a supplied photograph (if the student had one taken at the beginning of the school year). We need one high resolution digital image (.tif or .jpg file) on a disk and one traditional wallet size picture of the same pose. See image specifications here >>

Attention 2016 Senior Athletes: If you want to wear your uniform for your senior picture, please pick up a form in the Athletic Office at least 2 weeks before appointment.

The Most Fun Wins!
The La Follette Ultimate Frisbee Club is open to all La Follette students, regardless of frisbee tossing ability or athletic ability. Come join us!  We play Ultimate Frisbee on Mondays and Fridays during lunch in the Field House. Everyone is welcome.

We also have a club team that has competed against other schools for several years in a Madison area high school league, and this year we are adding a girls team for some fun games against other schools.

This fall, the La Follette Ultimate Frisbee Club will also have open practices one afternoon per week (day still to be determined). Contact Mr. Sackett or Ms. Hagen to find out more about ultimate and La Follette's Ultimate Club.
O La La!
French students will be going to France in the spring! Would you like to join us as we peruse historical art in the Louvre or climb the Eiffel Tower? There is no better way to spend spring vacation than Paris in the springtime! We'll also be staying with French families so we can experience the real, everyday life of French high school students.

Students must be enrolled for at least one French class during the 2015-2016 school year to participate in this fabulous trip! See Agnes Valley in A38 for more details.
Lancers Squared - All Lancers Are Better Together
Lancers Squared is a club focused on inclusion at La Follette with students of all abilities, through different academic and extracurricular activities. We
believe that all Lancers are better together, and have more power by the numbers!

There are four main ways to participate and make a difference.
Once a week, Lancers Squared students eat lunch together and participate in the planned activity, which includes listening to music, art, playing games, or just interacting with someone they've never met.

A student with a study hall/approved activity can consider being a TA in the special education department. The TA can provide peer support to students in their classes. A student can provide peer support for another student in a class they already share. Read more here >>>
Extramural Volleyball Begins in September
MSCR is happy to announce we will be starting extramural volleyball this September.  Interested students should stop by the CLC, which is located in the back of the library, and ask for Molly to get your registration form.
Practices will be on Wednesdays after school and games are held on Saturdays. Anyone can join 9th-12th grade the first practice will be held on September 23rd.
