A Message from Principal Sean Storch

Dear Lancer families,

We are on a mission to close the gaps in opportunity that lead to disparities in achievement, and to ensure every child is academically challenged in a safe and supportive environment. At La Follette High School, we have been successful in building a culture of learning, and our graduation rates have significantly improved, especially for students who are African American. In order to continue to do this great work and make future gains in student learning, we need your support.

We're facing disruptive cuts from the state, which continues to approve budgets that are not supportive of public education. If trends continue the next biennial state budget will continue a six-year pattern of underfunding K-12. We believe we have a responsible approach to budget development, repurposing funding to focus on priorities, finding efficiencies and staying focused on teaching and learning. But even with this smart approach, over time, state cuts will take a dangerous toll on our community's public schools. Continue reading > > >

YOU'RE INVITED TO HOST AN EXCHANGE STUDENT

We are always happy to welcome exchange students here at La Follette. When our exchange students participate in the classroom, their classmates begin to see the world through different eyes. They begin to open their minds to the idea that being global is good.

International Student Exchange is still looking for host families. There are close to 80 students who are still in their home countries waiting to hear that they can travel abroad for an exchange year. To learn more about ISE, visit their website at iseusa.org.
KEY HARVEST FOOD PANTRY

The La Follette High School Key Club opened the LHS Key Harvest Food Pantry on September 1! Our pantry is a long-term service project focused on serving our students who may not have the resources to avoid hunger during the school day. We are holding a few drives throughout the school year to stock our pantry shelves. Visit our Key Harvest Food Pantry web page for dates and for a list of items we are requesting. Thank you!
